Summer Fashion in Spain

I consider the first date an interview.

It all starts the same way: I dress in a black trench coat and turtle neck. With my hair loosely pulled back, I keep the conversation casual and laid back. I want to make sure the focus is on the conversation, not my appearance.

But black isn’t only for dates. Or funerals. If you follow me on Instagram, this isn’t shocking. My “ootd” is often black. Despite popular belief, black is not merely an intimidation factor (despite being very effective). Black is also elegant and, as described in my post about minimalism, helpful for a life evolving around travel.

So what in the world am I doing wearing orange?

If you’ve hopped cities, states, or countries, you will understand. Change of environment shapes you. When you are surrounded by a different culture, you observe, learn, and–sometimes–adapt things from that different culture and make it your own.

Isn’t that fun? Where you go, the people you meet, and the cultures you experience shape you into someone who is truly one of a kind.

Naturally I observe, and sometimes, adopt fashion trends.

So what is summer fashion in Spain?

Personal observation: Girls my age wear either neutral browns or BRIGHT color, patterned pants, long linen dresses, wide leg pants (no skinnies!), layers upon layers of jewelry, bright chokers (this is a new trend since last fall!), big earrings, sleeveless/single shoulder dresses, key hole tops, and this summer… a LOT of orange.

And what about shoes? Sandals or espadrilles.

The heels were my personal touch to the outfit.

My first trip to Spain introduced fancy earrings to my wardrobe. (Need proof? Look at how my earring game changed after my Christmas outfit blog of 2022!) Perhaps this time I’ll adopt a touch of color to my daily outfit.

Have you been challenging yourself to try new outfits?

Look around yourself. What’s inspiring you? Did your favorite blogger try something you thought was cool? Is there a trend you like? (It’s okay to admit you like a trend!) When in doubt, look around. Observe. Learn. And… maybe…adopt something to try.
