Hermes Head Scarf

Knowing how to wear head scarves takes your persona to a whole new level of elegance and *cool*. Here is what you need to know.

While scrolling through a few of my favorite reads, I began to noticed many sleek, silky headscarves dazzling the Pre-Fall 2021 runways. Whether sported by Versace or Max Mara, the scarves wrapped simply around the models heads into a dainty knot. Ooh-la-la! I was convinced! The headscarf had to make its debut in my life. (If you read my Wearing a Halter Scarf post, you know I have a *small* obsession with scarves. Persuading me to try a headscarf was not too difficult.)

You can wear a headscarf numerous ways, but I prefer to lean toward chic rather than bohemian. To do so, this look hinges on the contrast of textures rather than color. The breezy linen, the rough denim, and the silky head scarf. Simple. Elegant. Classic. Yet, thanks to the headscarf, totally in line with the current trends. (Doubtful? Check out Versace’s F21 RTW show! Absolutely jaw-dropping.)

I often build my outfits based on texture. This thought process helps me treat each item of the outfit as an artistic detail, rather than merely a garment. As I build the outfit in my mind, I consider each fabric. The denim, linen, tweed, crepe, silk..! Can you feel the fibers between you fingers? Do you see the draping of fabric? This thought process challenges my preconceived ideas of what garments “match,” and instead, pushes me to think outside the box. Perhaps focusing on texture will help you stretch your creative limitations, too.

If you’re looking for a silk scarf within a good budget, I would recommend looking at Zara, Mango, or Urban Outfitters. How do you plan to style your scarf?
