I rolled out of bed at 5am. “When Will My Life Begin?” from Disney’s Tangled (a groovy alarm tune) played from my phone as I scrambled to the closet. I mustn’t miss the sun!

With autumn approaching, I needed to enjoy the last, dwindling rays of the summer sunrise.

A touch of lip gloss. One last brush of my hair. Done. The birds had already broken into a five-part harmony and dew glittered across the grass. Dressed in sequins and tulle, I grabbed my gear, slipped on my flats, and hiked across the field to a previously scouted location.

As I watched, soft rays of sun began to peak between the branches. Perfect.

I have always loved summer mornings. Few people are awake to see them so they feel special. Throughout middle and high school, each summer I would wake up at 6am to run for that very reason. I have always enjoyed greeting the sun.

But alas! August is ending. Days may be getting shorter–but hurray! The beauty of crisp, golden autumn is approaching. In addition to the change of seasons, a big change will be occurring here at emmagranger.com.

I am excited to announce that I will be studying abroad in Madrid, Spain for the 1st semester of the 2021/2022 school year. I will be attending university, living with a host family, and exploring the city’s many hidden gems. I will update the blog, but be sure and follow my Instagram for daily looks, little videos, and other exciting tid-bits!

I would love to hear what you are most excited for this autumn! Let me know below. 🙂
